Fresh Bites—Nov 2016 : Jakarta New Restaurant

Fresh Bites Jakarta New Restaurant November 2016

Say hello to a new segment on Wanderbites, Fresh Bites! At the end of every month we’re going to share with you new restaurants and hot food spots all around Jakarta. Yes, we haven’t tried all of them (but we will, soon), but these are the first impressions that we gathered from various sources.

In other words, Fresh Bites is our own personal list of places that we would love to try and a way to keep you readers stay up to date. That being said, if you’re up for the real deal (our complete review), stay tuned to our social media and blog for updates! Here we go!

1. Social Affair
Cacaoté’s newest family member mainly offers coffee and baked products, as can be seen by photos of gorgeous golden-brown croissant on their Instagram. Having said that, don’t write off the other dishes just yet, as their brunch menu also looks interesting. And there’s Samcan Fried Rice! Can someone say OMG?

2. Pablo
In a short amount of time, Pablo Indonesia has garnered more than 19K followers on social media. This shows how much enthusiasm Jakartans have for this cheese tart specialist from Osaka, Japan. Pablo’s first outlet is located in Gandaria City, which will be followed by a second outlet in NEO Soho Mall early next year.

3. Nocturnal Coffee & Bar & Kitchen
Nocturnal opens until midnight on Sunday, and until 10 PM on any other day, so perhaps the name nocturnal refers to its logo, an owl. The owl is also depicted on a broad wall at Nocturnal, sipping on a cup of coffee inside a tree house. Interesting dishes we’d love to try: Prawn Waffle, Thai Milk Tea Cake.

4. Fuwa Fuwa
If you don’t like traditional cheese cake because of its heaviness, you should give Fuwa Fuwa a spin. Fuwa Fuwa offers Japanese-style cheese cake, which is more like a sponge cake in texture, very light. By the way, Fuwa Fuwa is technically not a restaurant. Buy a box (or two!) and enjoy it in the comfort of your own home.

5. Sinsa
Not much money in your purse, yet you’re in the mood for Korean food? No worries. Sinsa in Pluit will answer your call. It offers affordable Korean street food and BBQ skewers every day, except Tuesday, from 6 PM.
