New Restaurants in Jakarta July August 2016

Say hello to a new segment on Wanderbites, Fresh Bites! At the end of every month we’re going to share with you hot food spots and new restaurants in Jakarta. Yes, we haven’t tried all of them (but we will, soon), but these are the first impressions that we gathered from various sources.

In other words, Fresh Bites is our own personal list of places that we would love to try and a way to keep you readers stay up to date ?. That being said, if you’re up for the real deal (our complete review), stay tuned to our social media and blog for updates!

Here we go!

1. Yong He Noodles
All the way from Singapore, Yong He Noodles has finally brought the Bak Chor Mee fever to Jakarta. With generous serving of noodle, minced pork, and meatball, Yong He Noodles will be a worthy addition to Jakarta’s diverse noodle scene.

2. Flip Burger
Does Senopati really need another restaurant? Probably not, but Flip Burger is indeed quite different from other establishments in the area. The fact that Holycow’s Chef Afit is behind Flip Burger has created a great buzz, plus the price tag is pretty affordable. Expect flippin’ long queues, especially during weekend. 3. Pappa Rich
It’s funny how it was only a month ago I first heard of Pappa Rich from my friend who lives in Australia, and suddenly it opens in Jakarta. Pappa Rich offers authentic Malaysian cuisine, such as Penang Char Kuey Teow, Laksa, Prawn Noodles, and everything that involves kaya jam. The flavorful food is right up Indonesians’ taste buds!

4. Ojju
Ojju at Mall Kasablanka is vibrant, lively, colorful, and full of enthusiastic Korean food lovers. These days, don’t be surprised if you found yourself in the middle of a 15-people queue. The charm is definitely Ojju’s signature dish Rolling Cheese Beef Ribs, for the rest of the menu is not much different from other Korean restaurants in Jakarta.

5. Pavela
Brace yourself food enthusiasts, because Jakarta now has its very first Peruvian food restaurant, Pavela! While the name of the dishes are completely foreign—Pisco Sour, Causa De Cangrejo—the flavors would be familiar to our tongue: full of spices, bold, and hearty.

7. He Brews Coffee Corner
It seems only a while ago we were complaining why specialty coffee hasn’t flourished in Pantai Indah Kapuk, and there it was! One opened, another one popped out, then came He Brews in late July. It would be interesting to see how it differentiates itself from other similar coffee shops. Click here for the full story.
