Hello Miabella, It’s Gelato Time at Firenze Gelateria Gading Serpong

Firenze Gelateria Review by Wanderbites

Firenze Gelateria Gading Serpong might be leaning towards Grand Budapest Hotel esthetics instead of the terracotta-filled color hues of its namesake, the city of Florence in Italy, but the concept somehow works. The last few months of 2017 saw a huge number of customers posing in front of the social media-famous Hello Miabella—literal translation from Italian is my beautiful—neon lights hanging on an equally iconic pastel pink walls.

The feminine touch does not stop there. With added complementary shades of white, grey, wine red, and rose gold, it’s no surprise that Firenze Gelateria Gading Serpong is captained by a bunch of beautiful ladies scooping gelato behind the bar. The whole place feels organized with little space to waste. The first floor, where one makes a purchase, is also equipped with small three-table seatings for those who prefer a quick stop. Customers who wish to stay longer can opt to sit on the second floor where there is a communal table, plus a corner decorated with two bean bags—another popular spot for photo session.

But how about the gelato? Twelve flavors are ready to vie for your attention at a time. As the line-up is always in rotation, it’s hard to know whether our favorites are going to be available at the time of your visit. Overall we are quite impressed with a number of variants that one does not normally find at other gelateria, such as Pomegranate Sorbetto and Cheese. Everything is made with local fresh ingredients, skim milk, and no egg.

In terms of variety, Firenze Gelateria Gading Serpong manages to create one-of-a-kind flavors that still work and are acceptable to the general mass. There’s nothing overly sweet, acidic, or extreme in taste. For that same reason, we personally find the gelato lacking real punch. Perhaps it is unavoidable, considering the very affordable IDR 23K per small cup price tag.

While one does not need to go all the way to Gading Serpong only to have a taste of Firenze Gelateria’s gelato, do make a stop when you’re in the area. The gelato is decent, the place feels positive and bright, and perhaps you can finally brag to your friends that you’ve taken a shot in front of that Hello Miabella sign. But if you’re craving for some gelato, Jakarta also has plenty of great options. Do check out the list here. The choice is yours ?
