Forget the trend, forget about what worked last year and might continue to thrive in the new year. When the food is good, all of those matter less. Papa & Mama Bistro and Coffee is a good example of this. After years of selling bread, pastries, and cakes, Papa & Mama reaches out to an even bigger audience by opening a coffee shop in Green Lake City in 2016. Within one year, it has added another outlet, this time a bistro, in Taman Ratu, Green Ville area.
So here’s how Papa & Mama Bistro and Coffee works. There are different set of menus depending on the time of the day: breakfast, all-day-brunch, and lunch and dinner. While breakfast and brunch are Western-inspired, lunch and dinner menus are mostly Asian-influenced. Eggs Benedict vs Nasi Padang. Slow Cooked Pork Belly vs Hainanese Chicken Rice. You get the drill.
Having tasted the breakfast and brunch menus, we’re truly excited for what Papa & Mama Bistro and Coffee is bringing to the table. Black Pepper Honey Salmon is a sublime dish of seared salmon with golden cauliflower, served on top of miso pumpkin puree. The sweet black pepper honey dressing complements the perfectly cooked salmon, delivering burst after burst of flavor to your palate. Dry and overcooked salmon has no place in this bistro. Avocado Toast Set is a fulfilling plate of wholegrain bread, mashed avocado, tomato, alfalfa, and poached eggs. It’s a great option for the health conscious.
To complete your dining experience, Papa & Mama has a selection of tea, specialty coffee, and chocolate drinks. They are pretty serious about their coffee, so expect a legit cup of joe that is on par with any other specialty coffee shops out there. Chocolate drinks are supplied by Korté, who is an expert in specialty chocolate. There a variety of single origins chocolate made from specific regions of Indonesia, such as Bali Samsaman, Sulawesi Ranoha, Lampung Pesawaran, and many more.
Add all of those with a spacious area and comfy sofas, and you get the complete recipe of a solid bistro. Whenever you’re looking for a new place to dine or simply feel curious with Papa & Mama’s food when shopping for bread or cakes, do give it a try and hopefully you’ll find yourself enjoying the place as much as we did.
