Altitude Jakarta. The new restaurant that has been stealing the limelight in the high-end category for the past year. Occupying the whole 46th floor of The Plaza at Plaza Indonesia, Altitude Jakarta offers something that only a handful contenders can match. Stunning view, internationally-acclaimed chefs serving three variety of cuisines (Japanese, Italian, Australian) on the same floor.
They won me over when I tried them out the first time and it appears that they look forward to astound me with their new brunch offers. At IDR350K++ you’ll get an all-you-can-eat experience at any of the three restaurants in Altitude Jakarta every Saturday & Sunday. Drinks included!
So I ventured Salt Grill brunch special last week. I discovered that their menu selection is quite extensive to choose from. Also I love the fact that each meal are cooked and served ala-carte, not buffet style. Allow me to take you through as I experienced it. Let’s start from the one that speaks to me the most.
Love this dish. The fish are well executed. The addition of cauliflower puree and capers added flavor but not overpowering the taste of fresh fish. What was a little odd for me was the olives. I’m never into them.
Poached Peaches, Mascarpone Sorbet, Berry Consomme
Don’t understand the fancy word? No worries. It’s so farking good, that’s what it means. This dessert brought smile to my face. It is not too sweet which is a big plus. It makes you feel less guilty of sparing extra space in your belly. The mascarpone sorbet is one of a kind. I’d return to Altitude Jakarta just for this.
Wild Mushroom on Toasted Brioche
Probably one of the best brioche I’ve tasted so far. It has a texture that easily dissolve into tiny bits, almost effortlessly. However, it still keep the smoky toast feel that works well with the mushroom. Well executed.
I have a mixed feeling on this one. The scrambled eggs are not to question with although truffle oil might do most of the magic. Meanwhile the salmon is not bad. It just didn’t really strike a special chord on me.
The Bean Of Life
I owe this cocktail much for waking my tastebuds up. It almost like a party of flavor here: sweet, sour, spicy – The Bean of Life got it all. The magic formula: apple juice, elderflower, fresh lime juice, green olive, orange leaf, ginger.
Having tasted all that, I can safely say Altitude Jakarta especially Salt Grill is definitely climbing up my chart in Jakarta Best Brunch Places category. I have Gaia and Enmaru to go. Anyone wants to try them out with me? Otherwise, stay tune for the write up!
