Can a noodle change your life? Does it have the power to turn your world upside down? Would it pull you in so much that one is never enough? In the case of Mie Rica Kejaksaan, the answer is yes, yes, and yes! Well maybe the earlier is a bit of an exaggeration, but the latter, I can vouch for it.

Started in the 60s, the original idea was simply to craft a signature dish combining the best features of a comforting noodle and the craving characteristics of spicy food. The result is what you can see in the pictures above and below.

A bowl of rich tasting noodle with ground meat that guarantees to hook you on the first bite. Not to mention the hot kiss from the chili that leaves you wanting more. It is indeed very spicy that I need to tone it down it between bites with a cold drink. Frestea Klasik does very well on that department; ice cold tea is an undisputed thirst quencher for us Indonesians. However, not stopping at that, its new Pandan Vanilla taste adds a familiar comforting nuances. Maybe it is meant to be for Frestea Klasik to sing together so well with street food.

In addition to the noodle, I would strongly recommend their Shrimp Meatballs as well. It is quite pricey at IDR 45K, but it is worth paying extra for. You can really smell, feel, and taste the shrimp in every bite. Beautiful, beautiful comforting food.

Today, Mie Rica Kejaksaan has grown from a favorite from our dad’s generation to ours. If they could keep it consistent on both taste and price, it might continue to turn the world upside down until generations after us. If you haven’t, you should give it a taste too.
