It’s my second time around in Tokyo and there are still endless number of restaurants I have yet to check out. So I decided to start from the trails of my previous visit and find its contender. Harajuku Gyoza Luo for instance. I still remember how good it taste, so this time I went out to find another gyoza that might be over the par or at least at the same league with it.
I found Ginza Tenryu while roaming around the neighborhood and searched for best gyoza on Google. As it turns out the place is quite popular. Words on the street says Ginza Tenryu churn out up to 5000 portions of Gyoza daily. Added to that, the long queue that I have to go through, I figure that many people can’t be wrong.
Well as it turns out, they can. Despite of the Zagat reviews and praises on magazine that they hang on the wall, I have to say Harajuku Gyoza Luo still on the top of my chart. Ginza Tenryu’s Gyoza is actually pretty good. Big size is a plus and also the little meaty juice inside the gyoza. The kind that you’d find in Xiao Long Bao. For 1000 Yen it is also quite a bargain and you can definitely share it with a friend. However, I just couldn’t find that spark of magic on my taste buds.
A quick look on Trip Advisor and other review sites will show you that for a great amount of masses, the crowd is divided into two, those who sided for Harazuku Gyoza Luo & another who prefers Ginza Tenryu. I’d suggest you to try them both and we’ll see which side are you on.
Cheers
