At DoubleTree Jakarta, the hotel give the guests welcome cookies instead of welcome drinks. They do this in all their branches all over the world. I find that small unique change makes quite a gesture. After all its the tiniest details that count. In my case it counts big time.
Their soft-baked chocolate chip cookies turned out to be so good, I ended up taking a pack home. Truth is, I’m not alone. DoubleTree Jakarta’s signature cookies has grown a huge fan base. A quick search on Google and you’ll find praises over praises.
There are about 60.000 cookies given out daily, which means more than 21 million cookies annually.
It all started from a simple idea. In early 80’s hotels would give out these goodies to VIPs, and DoubleTree broke the rules and start giving it to anyone who stays in the hotel because everyone is VIP for them. The rest is history.
While munching it halfway I figure, this could make a great photo. So I crank up my photo gear, grab a few props to style it and voila! A quick food photography practice on an afternoon break. Productive and fun 45 minutes.
I pair the cookies with my homemade soymilk to balance off the sweetness from the chocolate chip. I don’t know why Indonesian love those crunchy cookies, I always have a fondness toward soft-baked cookies. I’m glad now I found one that I can count on to bring me comfort.
If you’re on the soft-baked side of the world, I’m quite sure you’ll be delighted with this.
