'Bone Breaking' at Ottoman’s Coffee Brewers

Ottoman's Coffee Brewers

“Let’s just scour the history books about coffee until we find a good name. Something bold. And strong.”

I imagine that would be a glimpse of how the team behind Ottoman’s Coffee Brewers decided on its unique name. After all, how to instantly differentiate yourself from hundreds of specialty coffee shops that have flourished like a fungi in the capital? First of all, ladies and gentlemen, pick a memorable name.

The name Ottoman refers to the Turkish Empire, a key player in spreading the coffee fever all across Europe. Furthermore, back in the days, Turkish coffeeshops played an important part in the Turks’ social life: socializing after work. Sounds familiar?

After that, it’s a matter of serving a great cup of coffee. While my knowledge about coffee is limited, Ottoman’s Coffee Brewers’ house blend Bone Breaker is definitely a champion. Its taste profile works really well with espresso-based drinks, as proven by my very enjoyable cappuccino; there’s a somewhat nutty, chocolatey aftertaste to it. And not coincidentally, Bone Breaker is also the nickname of the founder of the Ottoman dynasty.

Besides the house blend, Ottoman’s Coffee Brewers also has a rotation of guest beans from different sources. Think Coffeesmith Jakarta, Gordi, and Levelup Coffee. A diverse variety of beans to keep coffee aficionados coming back for more.

Because no coffee empire is complete without food, Ottoman’s Coffee Brewers offers brunch classics—Eggs Benedict, Avocado Toast, Croque Madame—alongside Pasta and the favorite Granola Smoothies Bowl. The latter option is accompanied by a series of healthy cold-pressed juices. There’s also gourmet tea for those of you wanting to take a break from coffee.

With its daring tagline “Redefining your experience of caffeine intake”, it seems like Ottoman’s Coffee Brewers wants to invite people to make coffee a part of their daily life. Just like the Turks did. It opens at 7 AM, the concept is strong, the coffee is great, there’s food, and the place is comfy. Consequently, I think Ottoman’s Coffee Brewers has every promise of staying long in the business. Best of luck and long live #TeamBoneBreakers!
