What is it that you look out for when you crave for noodle? For me it would be a bowlful of carbs that’s worth binging for. That’s worth feeling guilty afterward. The kind that would make you rub your tummy and says “The hell with it. I’ll jog an extra 30 minutes tomorrow.”

And so earlier this morning, I had that moment. A good friend of mine, Vedro suggested Bakmi Ko Fei as one of Kelapa Gading’s go to noodle shop. Judging from the Chinese-sounding name which in my head equals to quality, I head on with no hesitation.

How was it?

Well, it’s not bad, it’s just doesn’t strike a special chord on me. Maybe it’s just me. However, it serves its purpose. A fulfilling 180 grams of carbs added with a few extra grams of fat from the honey pork and chopped pork. All for IDR 19.000,- (that’s less than $2). I would still go to Aloi or Tua Bak for a much more satisfying pork affair. To conclude, for lack of a better word, Bakmi Ko Fei is a value for money Bakmi Siantar.

Would I pay another visit? Probably yes, if I’m that hungry and I’m only left with a sheet of Oto Iskandar Dinata in my wallet. Or actually, I’m curious with their speed eating challenge. Maybe I’ll try to beat the current record of 1:18 for 3 normal bowl of Bakmi Ko Fei and get away with IDR 2.500.000,-
