How you doin? I’m berrywell, thx =)
The cheeky script on Berrywell Fairgrounds’ tip jar sums up what this healthy food joint is trying to achieve. Making you and your body feel very well. Considering Berrywell recently opened a second outlet in Plaza Senayan, they must’ve been pretty successful in doing just that. In a little over 6 months after the SBCD outlet, no less.
Similar to its parent company, the Leafwell Catering, Berrywell focus in serving Jakartans with fresh and healthy food that supplies your body with tons of vitamins and good energy. It also offers something that no other food joints have done: labelling each of their menu with the number of calories.
With 8 types of smoothie bowls, 5 smoothies, and 7 cold-pressed juices, they have quite the variety of options in that category. We managed to squeeze 2 small-sized smoothie bowls into our belly: the acai-based Berrywell Signature (153 cal) and the spinach-infused Green Energy (104 cal). The regular-sized portion will give you twice the calorie count, which means it’s about double in size.
Both come with an array of toppings on top. The Green Energy, for example, has 6 different toppings. It’s great to see pumpkin seeds and cocoa nibs, two superfoods that rarely make appearance at other healthy food joints. Berrywell’s small-sized smoothie bowl will leave you feeling energized and berrywell indeed.
Since 153 cal plus 104 cal seem to be far below the recommended daily intake of 2000 cal, a slice of cake certainly wouldn’t hurt. Berrywell serves only two types of cake. If the flavor of their Lemon Chia Cake (325 cal) is any indication of how the Carrot Cake would taste, well, please bake more healthy cakes!
It’d be awesome to see detailed nutritional facts, as being healthy is a lot more than counting calories. Having said that, it’s definitely a good place to start. Be more conscious of what you eat, count your calories, and like those Hollywood celebs, don’t forget to have a cheat day. ?
