Why nomad you ask?
Because Blumchen Coffee is located at one of the busiest office area in Jakarta. It’s surrounded by hip neighborhood (Senopati, Senayan, Blok M). It’s strategic especially for nomads like me who live beyond Zone-1 or Zone-2 for that matter. We are the ones who have meetings in Sudirman area and needed a place to work while waiting for 3-in-1 to clear out. We are the ones with our Macbook ready where ever we go because commuting has taken so much of our time, we need a temporary workplace where we can be productive.
My favorite spot is currently the bar table with huge window and a view of hanging plants. That’s where I wrote Bakso Jagalan and still think its one of my best writings. There’s something about good space that inspires you. I find it at Blumchen Coffee.
For the caffeine department, Blumchen Coffee needs no introduction. It has been around since 2008 in their previous location in Fatmawati. With in house small batch roasting on a Probat and Anto ‘Irenk’ Sumarjo behind the machine, its an assurance that they are serious about what they are doing here and quite playful too. You’ll notice that aside from the ‘normal’ coffee, they have a few ‘abnormal’ ones like French Kiss Latter or Spicy Coffee.
For the food, note that they only serve light bites here. There are a few variety of croissant and sandwiches. I must admit at IDR 12.000, their croissant is definitely a feast worth trying.
For the nomad in me, I found what I need at Blumchen Coffee. A place to chill, to work, to make ideas into fruition while in between. What else do you need?
