D’Kevin Sudirman’s Meaty Indulgence

D'Kevin Sudirman Steak

Having promised to come back to D’Kevin Bar, Bistro & Steak at Sudirman for a proper hello to its steak, in the past 2 months I’ve found myself visiting the restaurant more than once. Each time, I got to taste D’Kevin’s pride and joy: 350 gram US Prime Rib Eye steak.

Yes, 350 gram. Ladies and gentleman, if you don’t have a big appetite, make sure to come with a friend.

Served on a weighty stone plate, the Rib Eye steak would not appeal to some eyes at first. There are certainly better hues than gray that would make the color of the steak pop out more. The rustic feel of the plate may also surprise some diners who are used to black and white plates. Having said that, I actually like the choice of presentation.

The somewhat primitive vibe that the stone brings is fitting for eating steak, as meat was daily consumption to our ancestors back in the olden days. And I don’t think there are a lot of plates that would fit that huge 350 gram of meat without parts of it peeking out here and there.

Despite mixed reviews about the stone plate, everyone would agree that the steak itself looks as if it was ready to be photographed for a magazine. Nice grilled marks. No less than 2 cm in thickness. Meaty liquid goodness that seeps out of the surface. It has every promise a steak should deliver: gorgeous, mouthwatering, and inviting people to eat.

How about the taste? I will try not to spoil the fun, but it is definitely worthy of the price tag. Juicy is probably the most accurate adjective I could use, but then D’Kevin’s Rib Eye is more than just juicy. When eaten with au jus sauce, it satiates every meaty indulgence that you have. Paired with the great ambience, eating steak at D’Kevin is as good as it gets!

The most impressive thing is all of my steaks throughout those different visits came out with the same quality. D’Kevin manages to consistently deliver perfectly seared and cooked Rib Eye steak each and every time, and this should speak for the quality of the restaurant.
