What’s luxury for you?
Take a good fifteen seconds and virtually write the words in your head.
Is it a private airport pickup on an Alphard?
Yes, the one that comes with a portable wi-fi to make sure that you can stay connected throughout the ride and a built-in bluetooth so that you can play your favorite tunes instead of the unfamiliar local radio.
Is it a large room with the equally large queen size bed?
Maybe. But it can still get better. You see that thoughtful two jars of traditional snacks right next to wall size window overlooking the city? I love them. But how is it compared to the spacious bath tub and complete line up of toiletries? Hmm.
Is it a wonderful tea time shared with friends?
A piece of delicious quiche paired with a wide selection of sweets and varieties of tea? The foodie in can’t help scream yes, but not quite yet.
Is it a full 90 minutes pamper-time at Chi?
Loosing some steam and putting off that heavy weight of your shoulders with the magical hands of the spa’s masseuse could be the ultimate luxury for many. Yours maybe? Definitely my kind of luxury, but something still missing.
Or is it a belly fulfilling and taste-buds pleasing dinner at one of the finest Chinese restaurant in town?
Can’t say no to these two killer menus: Sliced beef with garden greens and Broccoli Beef, but again it feels too much of a glutton for accepting this only.
Does any of the above strike your chord? Sure as hell they are one of a kind luxuries. I could get used to them, easily. But for me the ultimate luxury after spending one full day at Shangri-La Hotel Surabaya is a worry free mind. The comfort of knowing that you have everything taken care of to the tiniest detail.
And Shangri-La did it great in defining my kind of luxury. Thanks for having me around. Thanks for the hospitality.
For you biters, I’ll do a separate detailed reviews on their other restaurants. Stay tuned for that luxury 😉
